Puella Magi Madoka Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ) first aired in 2011, and its machines have been in parlours for more than a decade. Japanese players often shorten it to まどマギ (Madomagi), which is the word to look for on a hall’s machine list.
The anime is an original TV series from studio Shaft, written by Gen Urobuchi (en.wikipedia, secondary source).

Playing as a fan
- Two kinds of machine. The smart slots play like any pachislot, but with electronic credits instead of medals. P Madoka Magica 3 is pachinko. See pachinko vs pachislot.
- Story scenes are the show. Machines reuse and add animation from the series. That’s part of the appeal for fans, and also the reason it’s easy to keep playing. Decide your budget first (responsible play).
- Find one. Search まどマギ or マギアレコード on a hall’s site, or ask staff with the Japanese name on your phone.
