If there’s one anime franchise dominating Japanese parlours in 2025–26, it’s Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種). It has machines on both sides of the hall, pachinko and pachislot, and fans voted it the top machine in both categories for 2025.
Tokyo Ghoul is Sui Ishida’s dark-fantasy manga about Ken Kaneki, a student who becomes half-ghoul; it was adapted into a TV anime by Pierrot (en.wikipedia, secondary source). The Japanese title is read Tōkyō Gūru, and 東京喰種 is what you’ll see on machine lists.

Why fans love it
In the pachinko advertising council’s fan awards for 2025, announced on 8 April 2026 after a public vote in February and March, Tokyo Ghoul swept the board (Yugi Tsushin via P-World):
- Pachinko: e Tokyo Ghoul won the overall grand prize, first with both general players and industry voters. Fans praised its “hand-drop” presentation effect (手落下演出) and the variety of effects during its bonus “rush” mode.
- Pachislot: L Tokyo Ghoul also won the overall grand prize. Fans pointed to how faithfully it recreates the original’s world, and to Natsuki Hanae’s voice work (he voices Kaneki in the anime).
When we checked on 4 October 2026, Tokyo Ghoul machines were in P-World’s nationwide installation rankings for both pachinko and pachislot (P-World). We don’t reproduce rank numbers. In Fukuoka, PLAZA Tenjin lists the Cho-Deka version among its October new machines (PLAZA Tenjin).
Playing as a visitor
- All three are smart machines, so you won’t handle loose balls or medals. See smart slot and smart pachinko explained.
- Pachinko or slot? The e machines are pachinko: you steer balls with the handle. L Tokyo Ghoul is a slot with reels and stop buttons. If you’re not sure which suits you, read pachinko vs pachislot.
- The “rush” is the show. Bonus sequences are long and loud. Enjoy the animation, but keep to the budget you set before sitting down. See responsible play.
